!Hey

!Ahoj

!Hallo

My name is Michal Hornyák and I am from Slovakia. I am 23 years old and just finished my bachelor's degree in computer science.

If I had to describe myself with 3 different words starting with the letter E, it would be: Enthusiastic, Empathetic and Extroverted. Furthermore, I consider myself appreciative, flexible and creative.

Whether it is having a morning cup of coffee or seeing a dog on the streets, I enjoy the small things in life. Having 3 older brothers, it has never been a problem for me to work in a team.

::education

Gymnasium
Poštová 9

I am proud that I had the opportunity to study at Poštová Gymnázium. It is one of the best schools not only in the city of Košice, but also nationwide.

The school emphasizes the teaching of mathematics, which sparked my interest in this field and laid the foundation for my decision to pursue a computer science degree. Attending classes with extended English teaching helped me enhance my English communication skills.

Technical University
of Košice

The Technical University of Košice is the second largest university in the Slovak Republic. It offered me a high-level education right on my doorstep.

I started a computer science bachelor’s degree in 2018. To top off my study experience, I applied for the Erasmus+ mobility programme.

Johannes Kepler University
in Linz

Spending a winter semester in the beautiful city of Linz was the best part of university life. The Erasmus+ exchange at Johannes Kepler University was an opportunity to meet many international students and get to know different cultures.

I studied at JKU during the supplementary year of my bachelor's degree. It gave me the freedom to focus on studying the German language and culture and also helped me to improve my hard and soft skills.

::free time

Cooking

Is there a better way to spend free time than on preparation of some delicious food? The answer is NO. It is my pleasure to cook for family and friends, and it is the time when I can let my imagination fly high and create something with character and style.

Are you asking for my signature dish?
It is beetroot risotto with coconut and goat cheese.

Baking

Since I was a child I have always had a sweet tooth. I often helped my mom with the preparation of the most traditional sweets and cakes.

In recent years, I spent more of my free time in the kitchen, learning how to prepare desserts of different cuisines.

Working out

A balance between mental and physical health is my goal. Spending an hour or two in the gym or biking gives me time to relax.

I would never reject a hike in the mountains either. I love the connection with nature appreciating all the small things happening there.

Soupculture

Soupculture is an eco-friendly, unique and alternative street food concept selling soups in edible cups. Right after my graduation at high school I applied for a job in a small restaurant in Košice.

From a waiter to the floor manager

Soupculture gave me an opportunity to be creative. After a year of working for this street food concept as a waiter, I was dealing with everything from cooking and serving to staff training, coming up with new recipes and brand promotion on Instagram or directly in the town of Košice. I really enjoyed being part of the Soupculture family as well as taking the responsibility as the right hand of the owner.
